What's the worst that can happen?
Especially if you plan on moving to a new place. This isn't something that comes foreign to me, as i attended many schools and have moved to new places. You have to meet new people... Or consider yourself lonly!
Truth be-told, you CAN'T avoid this. It is kind of the whole point of moving for some. The networking. The new beginnings. The start of a better life for one's personal growth!
I don't encourge people to embrace their shyness, as i used to be very, very shy, believe it or not!
It is an amazing feeling meeting new people, especially when they become a close friend... How else would you have met those close friends without putting yourself out there at some point or another. Sorry to point out the odvious...!!
It involves some kind of communication. Give it a try!! A stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet!
I hate introducing myself with "Hello, my name is Alisha Mae. I am new in town." Sorry, but this is a dull way and is a slow way to have a more natural informal conversation. It's better to treat a stranger as a friend already and be more natural...
At worst, someone closed minded will look at you weirdly and think you're crazy, or even if they are rude with you, it's their problem for living in such a boring world, not yours. It's their loss, just on to the next person.... Communications.

When moving to a new place... far away from those close friends and family. Communication become almost blurry. Blurry because you're thoughts are blurred by the fact and feeling of missing those special people in your life.
The more i think about this move, the stress has become more potent. Building everything up again...
Then I had another thought while down at the beach this afternoon...
What if every new "stranger" me met treated each other the way we treated dogs we met on the beach.
Here's what I mean.
I noticed as various dogs wandered past me and the people around me, most of people stopped what they were doing, reached out a hand, said hello, spoke with the dog, petted it if would allow it, and smiled.
Why don't we do the same when meeting new "strangers"? I mean, not necessarily the petting and stuff (ok, occasionally we can just for shits and giggles), but the saying hello in a simple, easy, happy-making way.
My feeling about it is that we don't want to engage in a conversation all the time. We just want a quick, positive connection with something that isn't going to be weird or uncomfortable or take up too much of our time or energy, in a sense. Like, a dog doesn't exactly invade your private "me time" when it's just passing through.
But maybe our lives would be a lot richer if we connected with each other more.
You know, a metaphorical reaching out of a hand to be sniffed.
God, that sounded weird!
What i am trying to say.. is that, sometimes when we are getting ready to/ or are already in the mist of personal growth of a move or any kind of big life event.. it is a nice gesture. A Hug. or in this case... A little pat on the head and a smile.
All Saying that life is good and nothing is to scary if you just give it a try.
*my writing is all over... stress does a crazy thing to the mind*
